Although he admits to being a native born Iowan, Bill has been in New Hampshire for fourteen years and considers it to be his true home. After spending three decades in the corporate environment (a lot of it in the air and away from home) he decided it was time to start doing things he really wanted to do with the rest of his life. Photography had always been an interest but there had just never been enough time to become proficient.
After five years of progressive experimentation with multiple different Nikon digital camera bodies he is currently shooting with the D700. With a current collection of more than 45,000 photographs he feels he has found his special area of interest. Digital macro (close-up) photography of flowers, plants, and leaves has given him a great deal of pleasure and has produced what he considers to be a very unique collection of prints in that area. These, and other more traditional photographs, were taken locally in New Hampshire and across North America, and many more come from France, Italy and the Caribbean.
Editing:
Photographic editing is done on a Wacom Cintiq 21UX Graphics Tablet in Photoshop CS4 Extended and a Windows Vista Business 64 bit operating system environment. All prints are digitally signed by the artist, including the year first produced. "Black" Flower prints include the common and latin name in addition to the artist's signature/year.
Printing:
All printing is done at a resolution of 2880 x 1440 dpi on an Epson Stylus Pro 7880 printer with Epson UltraChrome K3™ ink. New Vivid Magenta pigments, Epson’s newest-generation ink technology requires only eight colors, including a three-level black technology, to significantly raise the quality levels of professional color and black-and-white prints. It produces archival prints with amazing color fidelity, gloss level, and scratch resistance, while providing consistently stable colors that significantly outperform lesser ink technologies. It also produces professional neutral and toned black-and-white prints with even higher density levels, along with virtually no metamerism or bronzing.
Prints are available on the following four professional photographic papers:
This paper, with a 10 mil non-cockling resin coated base, offers maximum ink coverage for highly saturated prints and a high Dmax for rich blacks. It features the same Luster E surface of traditional silver halide prints, but with a coating that yields more vibrant, lifelike images.
This paper also features a 10 mil non-cockling base that provides for vivid, lifelike colors that last. Maximum ink coverage and the paper’s smooth surface combine to create stunning, high-quality prints.
Also a 10 mil thickness, this photographic paper has an elegant, understated finish that minimizes glare, while maximizing display quality.
At 13 mil thickness, this is a gloss finish paper developed for use with Epson UltraChrome K3 Ink. It has extraordinary Dmax and tonal transition in black-and-white, as well as the ability to print vibrant color.
